Several streets closed for flooding after storms pass through Bexar County

About 50 streets in San Antonio and Bexar County were closed Friday as rain showers passed through the area.

A cold front rushed into Bexar County late Thursday, bringing storms that have dumped just under 1.5 inches on the county.

Cory Van Pelt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the rain should start to die off between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

“The intensity has dropped quite a bit,” he said.

The county is under an urban and small stream flood advisory, meaning many of the areas that tend to collect water are at risk of flooding, Van Pelt said.

Such flooding caused the closure of more than 20 streets in San Antonio and almost 30 across Bexar County. The list of San Antonio street closures can be found here, and that of Bexar County here.

Van Pelt said there’s a slight chance of rain on Saturday. Friday temperatures will see a high of 56, and Saturday should see lows in the mid-40s and highs in the low 50s.
